Who we fund

The Neag Foundation employs an organizational and grantmaking framework that reflects its core priorities. Foundation grants support organizations that provide direct services, through which the Foundation endeavors to create positive impact in the following priority areas:

  • Promote health and health-related initiatives
  • Prepare children, youth and adults for success in schools and in their communities
  • Support the arts and art related initiatives

Through this work, the Neag Foundation hopes to positively impact the lives of families and children.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants will have documented 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. Preference will be given to those projects that receive broad-based community support. Grant proposals may request funds for project funding, general operating funding, capacity building, or a combination of these.

What does the Neag Foundation do?

The Neag Foundation makes grants to various nonprofit organizations that meet its eligibility requirements and that are selected by the Board through a competitive grant process. We focus on Education, Health and the Humanities.

Who is eligible for funding?

Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) organizations whose programs further the Foundation’s mission and whose services benefit others and make a difference in health, education, or the arts.

Who is not eligible for funding?

The Foundation does not grant to individuals, political, fraternal and/or civic organizations. Additionally, we do not participate in annual appeals, special event sponsorship requests or other letters of solicitation.

Who selects the grant recipients?

The grant recipients are selected by the Foundation’s Board.

Does the Neag Foundation make multi-year grants?

The Foundation may decide to make multi-year grants, on a very limited basis.

Are site visits required, and if so, how are site visits arranged?

The Foundation sometimes makes site visits to applicant organizations to experience their missions in action. Visits are made to meet the beneficiaries of charitable work, to see services delivered firsthand, and to observe projects or programs that the Foundation has funded or is currently evaluating.

May I submit a hard copy letter of inquiry, proposal or grant report?

No. All parts of the Foundation’s process are online, accessible through the how to apply button link on our homepage.  

What kind of publicity does the Foundation seek for its grants?

The Foundation does not seek recognition for its philanthropic activities, but we do recognize the value a grantee organization may find in leveraging its foundation funding to demonstrate support for its programs and attract additional resources. The Neag Foundation requests the right to approve all public uses of its name.

Please note that Neag Foundation does not consider requests for: capital projects; general fundraising, annual appeals, or special events; Individuals; fraternal and/or civic organizations; political candidates or parties; political action; Committees (PACs) engaged in influencing legislation; debt reduction.
